Rocher du Diamant

April 08 , 1830, a clandestine slave ship carrying 300 slaves anchoring at Anse Caffard suffered a wave of extreme violence . The boat was completely destroyed , its never established name and nationality. Six bodies were recovered .
The bodies of the sailors were buried at the cemetery, those slaves buried a few meters from the shore. 86 captives , including 26 men and 60 women , lives were saved and were transferred to Fort de France .
To mark the hundredth anniversary of the abolition of slavery , Laurent VALERE achieved this monumental set of 15 white statues facing the CAP 110 ° EAST ( towards the Gulf of where went the crew of Guinea ) .

L'îlet Sainte Marie et son Tombolo

The Îlet Sainte -Marie is an island of Martinique on the north east coast of Martinique, right in front of the town of Sainte -Marie .
The " tombolo " word of Italian origin means a sandy spit that typically connects an island to the mainland . It results from the action of hydrodynamic factors are sailors for 4 months of the year, mostly in January -February to April-May.
Tourists can walk along the tombolo to reach the islet , where small paths are traced . Trail right from the closed side islet April 1 to August 31 to protect roseate terns , a rare species of bird that nests on this part of the islet in this period.

Located at the foot of Morne Jacqueline , several small hot springs emerge on the rocks facing the sea. The hot water source come from a tank whose temperature would be about 180 ° C.

Bibliothèque Schœlcher Architectural gem built according to plans by Henri Picq , the building was first presented in 1889 in Paris . Disassembled and transported by boat to Fort de France , it houses a collection of 1893 books offered by Victor Schoelcher , French politician acquired the abolitionist cause in the French colonies in the 19th century .

This large house whose entrance is decorated with an avenue of palm trees , promotes a Creole architecture testimony. Built around 1760, the house and its Pécoul facades have been classified historical monuments in 1981. The main house was the center of the field around which shone the boxes for workers and industrial buildings. The site is still fed by diversion canals that supply water in a beautiful pool in the heart of a tropical garden .
